Objectives: The study aims to verify the proposed structural model of insecure attachment patterns as a mediating variable between marital satisfaction and marital commitment and investigating the level of each variables, among husbands in Palestine.
Methods: The study uses a correlational approach in the path analysis method, applying the Insecure Attachment Styles Scale, the Marital Commitment Scale, and the Marital Satisfaction Scale to an available sample of 390 husbands and wives in Palestine in the year 2021.
Results: The study's results showed a direct effect of marital satisfaction on marital commitment, with a direct effect size of 0.256. The results also revealed that the pattern of fearful attachment affects the relationship between these variables, as the indirect effect of fearful attachment reached 0.135, leading to a decrease in the correlation coefficient between marital satisfaction and marital commitment to 0.104. Furthermore, the results indicate that the level of avoidant attachment is high, the level of anxious attachment is moderate, and the level of insecure attachment is low. Additionally, the results demonstrate that the level of marital satisfaction is high, while the level of marital commitment is moderate.
Conclusions: The results highlight the importance of considering variables such as marital satisfaction and fearful attachment when predicting marital commitment. This information should be taken into account when developing counseling programs aimed at improving the level of marital commitment.
