Objectives: This study aimed to identify the perceived psychological, social, and physical impacts on individuals with disabilities in Gaza as a result of the 2023 conflict. It also sought to explore differences in these effects based on gender and type of disability.
Methods: To achieve the study's objectives, a questionnaire was designed to assess perceived psychological, social, and physical impacts on individuals with disabilities, comprising 30 items across three categories. The study sample consisted of 98 individuals with disabilities in Gaza.
Results: The findings indicated that the perceived psychological, social, and physical impacts on individuals with disabilities in Gaza from the 2023 conflict were moderate overall. The study also showed no significant differences in the overall perceived impacts (psychological, social, and physical) based on gender. Additionally, no differences were found in social and physical impacts based on disability type, though there were differences in psychological impacts, with greater effects reported among individuals with hearing and visual impairments.
Conclusions: The study recommends efforts to end the conflict in Gaza and provide essential resources for individuals with disabilities to protect them from the negative impacts that war-related events may have on their lives.
