Emotional Interior Design and Its Impact on Individuals’ Behavior in Therapeutic Environments

Abstract

This research aims to study the role of emotional interior design on the behavior of individuals within therapeutic environments, by employing elements of interior design (colors, lighting, materials, furniture, spatial planning) as physical, psychological, social, sensory and environmental stimuli within therapeutic environments to be able to enhance the positive emotions of individuals (patients and workers). The research methodology is field investigation methods, where two questionnaires (before and after) were designed and distributed to 100 individuals in different therapeutic environments, and interviews were conducted with 40 specialists (20 doctors and 20 designers) to find out their opinions on the subject of the study, and the results were statistically analyzed in tables of the researcher's work. The results of the research came to emphasize that interior design improves the quality of therapeutic environments functionally and aesthetically, and increases the positive behavior of its users physically and morally, by integrating the elements of internal design that affect individuals and their emotions to improve the process of their treatment and healing, thus summarizes the role of interior design as a catalyst for the emotions and behavior of users of those environments positively.
