Objectives: This research aims to elucidate the aspects of conceptual/semantic interrelation between sentences in Mahmoud Mohammed Shakir's poetry. Termed as "perceived conceptual relations," these are connections not reliant on explicit linguistic links, such as pronouns or conjunctions, but rather logical and meaningful relationships inferred from the discourse context. The study focuses on three conceptual relations in his poetic collection "Blow, O Winds": causality, interpretation, and specification.
Methodology: Given the study's nature, a descriptive and analytical approach was adopted. The methodology involved extracting poetic sentences from the collection, categorizing them based on the three identified relations, and conducting an analysis to highlight textual cohesion.
Results: The research concluded with several key findings. Shakir's poetry exhibits a high degree of textual cohesion, emphasizing a singular theme prevalent in his collection "Blow, O Winds": the awakening of the nation. The study recommends further exploration of perceived conceptual relations in Shakir's poetry, shedding light on additional psychological, social, and cultural dimensions that contribute to shaping his creative vision.
Conclusion: This research represents a significant endeavor in applied linguistic analysis, delving into Shakir's poetry, a body of work largely unexplored from a textual perspective. The study showcases the cohesive nature of his poems, governed by a central idea: the nation's awakening. Consequently, the research recommends an in-depth investigation into the expressed conceptual relations in Mahmoud Mohammed Shakir's poetry, unveiling crucial psychological, social, and cultural facets influencing his creative perspective.
