Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to deal with an important basis of the Arabic Morpho-Phonemic heritage, which is the structural morphological transformations in the triple-rooted verbs, especially: al>ajwaf the mid-semi-voweled, and al-naaqis the semi-vowel-ended. The study therefore seeks to analyze the morphological constructing rules and follow the phonemic developments that affected the construction of their morphological units. To this end, the study utilizes the phonemic writing which goes beyond the ancient Arabic way of writing while analyzing the morpho-phonemic phenomena. The study tries to restore balance to the morphological constructing rules of dealing with al-ajwaf and al-naqis verbs, apply the modern linguistic theories concerning the semi-vowels and phonemic syllables and monitor the structural components which maintained their rigidity in various morphological forms.

Method: The study employs a descriptive method that aims to track and analyze the irregular forms in the context of modern phonetics. It links analytical procedures and applies them to the transformations of altered forms.

Results: The study concludes that the phonetic changes in morphological forms can be explained more clearly and easily in light of modern phonetics. This is because most of the phonetic and morphological explanations emerge from the syllabic system and the law of diphthongs, rather than the written form used by early scholars to explain most of their phonetic anomalies.

Conclusion: The study recommends the necessity of adopting phonetic transcription as a method in teaching morphology in general, especially for irregular forms.
