Objectives: The study aimed to explain the relationship between globalization and national identity, and to measure the level of globalization and national identity among students, and its relationship to some demographic variables.
Methods: The study used the descriptive analysis approach based on the quantitative method by constructing a scientific questionnaire for the purposes of the study. The questionnaire was applied to a sample of (1650) male and female students at the Hashemite University.
Results: The study found an inverse relationship between globalization and national identity. The Pearson correlation coefficient between the globalization variable and the national identity variable reached (-0.484). Therefore, increasing the rate of globalization leads to reducing the level of national identity among individuals. The study also concluded that globalization explains 25% of the change in national identity.
Conclusion: Studying the impact of globalization on national identity led to the statement that, despite the effects of globalization on individuals and societies, the presence of certain societal values still acts as a barrier against compromising certain societal values. The study recommends the necessity of studying the impact of globalization on the national identity of Jordanian society in its entirety, not just on university students.
