الملخص

تتناول مسرحية آرثر ميللر "موت بائع متجول" (1949) الرأسمالية في عالم ما بعد الحداثة، وتعرض مدى تأثير أموال الناس وأصولهم في طبيعة حياتهم. وعليه، تسعى هذه الدراسة للكشف عن كيفية إرتباط هذه الخلفية الاجتماعية بتجربة الشخصيات وحنينهم إلى الماضي كطريقة للهروب من الواقع المؤلم. وتشرح الدراسة كيف يستمر لومان في التنقل بين الماضي والحاضر، مما يتسبب في خلق لحظات من الشوق والحنين لأوقات معينة. واعتمادا على نظرية لينا هوتشون وماريو فالديس فيما يرتبط بالعلاقة بين السخرية والحنين للماضي وما بعد الحداثة، تؤكد الدراسة أن الحنين إلى الماضي لا يدور دائمًا حول الهروب من الواقع للتأكيد على ماض ممتع، وإنما يمكن أن يكون ذلك تذكيرا بالألم والمعاناة التي يعاني منها الشخص وعائلته. تخلص الدراسة إلى أن الحنين إلى الماضي في هذه المسرحية بالذات قد تم تقديمه لبلورة الماضي والاستهزاء به من خلال التأكيد على أنه لا مفر منه.
