Social Reformative Dimension in Qur’anic Legal Verses Related to Divorce in Q2

Objectives: This research aims to shed light on the social reformative Qur’anic directions included in the verses related to divorce in Surat al-Baqarah (Q2). Moreover, it highlights the positive impact of these directions in reforming societies and overcoming difficulties that usually accompany divorce situations.
Methods: The research follows; first: the inductive method; by determining the relevant verses, second: the deductive analytical method; by analyzing the vocabularies and structures of the verses and inferring from them the reformative social directions.
Results: It appears that the verses talk about ahkam of divorce in Q2 contain several reformative instructions such as: trying to end the conflict between spouses, maintaining duties and rights, being forgiving and tolerant, taking wise decisions, adhering to good ethics, respecting the commands of Allah and never exploiting them for personal benefits, and transforming faith into good morals. The study proves that these Qur’anic directions play a significant role in reforming, securing, and stabilizing society.
Conclusions: It is concluded that the Qur’an provides reformative social directions throughout its verses, particularly verses related to legal rulings. And it is recommended that these directions be explored and highlighted, so the community can benefit from them.
