The Role of Family Reconciliation and Mediation Offices in Jordan in Reducing Family Disputes from the Viewpoint of their Workers

This study aims to clarify the role of family reconciliation and mediation offices in reducing family disputes and decreasing divorce rates in Jordan, from the point of view of reconciliation workers. Also, identify the degree of the workers' evaluation of the nature of the role they play and knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the mechanism of work of these offices, and treatment, if any. The study reached to several results such as the establishment of family reconciliation and mediation offices had clear and effective role in decreasing the divorce rates in Jordan. This was shown through the annual statistics of number of divorce cases compared to the number of agreements concluded in the offices of family reconciliation and mediation. Members working in family reconciliation and mediation offices think that the number of divorce cases is related to several factors, including the type of education, family income, age of marriage, and other factors that affect negatively or positively in increasing the spouses resorting to divorce. Obstacles that negatively affect the reconciliation process in family reconciliation and mediation offices according to the viewpoint of members working in these offices is the poor infrastructure of some reform family reconciliation and mediation offices and the increase in the number of visitors to family reconciliation offices. The study recommended holding specialized legal courses on regular basis for members working in family reconciliation and mediation offices, creating an appropriate environment for family reconciliation so that the directorate can improve its various roles.
