الأهداف: تهدف هذه الدراسة لبيان الآليات الدولية لحماية الحقوق القانونية للأشخاص كبار السن، وماهية كبار السن في القانون الدولي وحقوق الأشخاص كبار السن بموجب الاتفاقيات الدولية، وإعلانات الأمم المتحدة، ومدى إلزامية النصوص القانونية الدولية في مواجهة الدول الأعضاء، وآليات الأمم المتحدة في الحفاظ على القواعد.
المنهجية: اعتمدت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي والتحليلي لتحليل النصوص والمخرجات الدولية التي صدرت عن المحافل الدولية المختلفة فيما يتعلق بالأشخاص كبار السن.
النتائج: توصلت الدراسة لعدة نتائج، أبرزها أن الجهود الدولية المبذولة في مجال حقوق كبار السن لا ترقى للمستوى المأمول، وأن المؤتمرات والاجتماعات الدولية المتخصصة في هذا الموضوع قليلة للغاية، وأن معظم الحقوق، قد تم النص عليها بصورة ثانوية في مؤتمرات واجتماعات غير متخصصة بحقوق كبار السن.
الخلاصة: أن حقوق كبار السن في تحسن مستمر؛ لكنها ليست ضمن المأمول، ويجب على المجتمع الدولي أن يقوم بوضع قانون نموذجي أساسي من أجل أن يتم تعميمه على الدول المختلفة أو أن يتم الاستفادة منه من أجل تعزيز حماية حقوق كبار السن داخل الدول.
