Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain the copyright of all articles published in Dirasat: Human and Social Sciences.
All published articles are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, reproduction, adaptation, and sharing in any medium or format, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), a link to the license is provided, and any changes made are clearly indicated.
The CC BY 4.0 license allows readers, researchers, educators, and other users to access, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, reuse, and build upon the published content for any lawful purpose without prior permission from the journal or publisher, provided that proper attribution to the original publication is maintained.
Use of Copyrighted Material
Authors are responsible for obtaining all necessary written permissions to reproduce, adapt, or reuse any copyrighted material included in their manuscripts where such permission is required.
Permission is generally required for:
- Figures, tables, illustrations, photographs, or other copyrighted materials reproduced or adapted from previously published sources.
- Substantial extracts of copyrighted text.
- Materials for which the authors do not hold copyright or reuse rights.
Permission is generally not required for:
- Materials that are in the public domain.
- Content distributed under a license that permits reuse, provided that the applicable license terms are observed.
- Brief quotations used in accordance with applicable copyright legislation and fair use or fair dealing provisions.
- Original figures, tables, or illustrations created by the authors based on previously published data, provided that the original source is appropriately acknowledged.
Authors should obtain all necessary permissions before submitting their manuscripts to avoid delays in the editorial, peer-review, or publication process.
Where permission has been obtained, appropriate acknowledgement must be included in the relevant figure caption, table footnote, or text citation in accordance with the requirements specified by the copyright holder.
Failure to obtain the necessary permissions may result in delays in publication, requests for revision, or rejection of the manuscript.
Example of Copyright Acknowledgement
To avoid unnecessary delays in the publication process, authors should begin obtaining copyright permissions as early as possible. If there is any uncertainty regarding copyright ownership or reuse rights, permission should be obtained before submitting the manuscript. The journal cannot publish copyrighted material without the appropriate authorization.
Where the copyright holder specifies a required acknowledgement format, authors should follow those instructions. Otherwise, the following acknowledgement may be used in the caption of the relevant figure, table, or illustration:
"Reproduced with permission from [Author], [Book or Journal Title], published by [Publisher], [Year]."
