Objectives: This study aimed to measure the level of knowledge of Gulf citizens regarding the causes of border disputes among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, focusing on Kuwait, Qatar, and the Sultanate of Oman, and to explore their attitudes toward these disputes.
Methods: A descriptive quantitative approach was adopted. The study population consisted of citizens from Qatar, Kuwait, and the Sultanate of Oman. A representative random sample of 1,500 individuals was selected, distributed equally across the three countries.
Results: Findings showed that the majority of respondents (87.7%) were familiar with their countries’ geographical borders. However, only 22.3% demonstrated adequate knowledge of border issues, while 43.1% exhibited weak knowledge. The primary sources of information were official media (89.7%) and friends (83.9%).
Conclusions: The study emphasized the importance of analyzing border issues between Gulf states in light of established political geography frameworks. It also highlighted the need to enhance public awareness of border-related issues, their causes, and their impact on regional stability. The study recommends conducting further in-depth research to address dimensions not covered in the current investigation.
