Objectives: This study examines Indonesian Twitter conversations regarding Indonesian Sharia banks to understand the public discussion better. Sharia banking is a popular alternative financial system in Indonesia. The public's perceptions of Islamic finance, however, are pretty nuanced. Twitter users who debate Indonesian Sharia banks are examined using social network analysis to examine their conversation and the formation of opinions.
Methods: Bank Syariah Indonesia provided several Twitter datasets to start the research. Three metrics are used to identify essential players and communities on Twitter: centrality, density, and community detection. The information was gathered by DEA, a social network analysis service based on NLP.
Results: In May 2023, Bank Syariah Indonesia tweeted 160 times. Twitter users who talked about Bank Syariah Indonesia developed several communities with varying viewpoints. According to analysis, Indonesians view Bank Syariah Indonesia differently. Influential people, or thought leaders, influence other Twitter users and affect online discourse.
Conclusions: These results provide insight into online groups' beliefs, issues, and mindsets. Governments, financial institutions, and marketers can all benefit from these findings by improving public engagement strategies. This study establishes the groundwork for future research while advancing the social media dynamics at Bank Syariah Indonesia.
