Objectives: The study aimed to explore the impact of university students' use of artificial intelligence applications in the educational process from the point of view of faculty members.
Methodology: The study relied on the social survey method using the comprehensive survey approach for the study community elements. The study sample consisted of 110 faculty members working in universities on the eastern coast of the United Arab Emirates.
Results: The results showed that there is both a positive and negative impact of university students' use of artificial intelligence applications, with high and medium degrees, and mean scores of 3.87 and 3.62, respectively. The results also revealed statistically significant differences in the positive impact of using artificial intelligence applications based on the gender variable, favoring males, the age group of 40-49, and those holding the rank of full-time lecturer. Additionally, the results indicated statistically significant differences in the negative impact of using artificial intelligence applications based on the gender variable, favoring males, the age group of 60 and above, and those from computer science and engineering disciplines holding the rank of assistant professor.
Conclusion: Based on the findings, the study recommends promoting the ethical use of artificial intelligence applications by students, combating cheating and academic plagiarism, and striking a balance between technology and human interaction by preserving the teacher's role in guidance and assessment.
