Objectives: This study aims to explore the concept of reward in the Qur’an, clarify its meaning, examine its associations with related expressions in the Qur’anic text, reveal its interpretive connotations and its relation to lived reality, and explain the effects resulting from it.
Methods: The researcher adopted the inductive approach by surveying the Qur’anic verses related to reward in the Qur’an. This was followed by the analytical approach, which involved examining the interpretations and explanations of Qur’anic commentators regarding the associations, connotations, and various effects of reward.
Results: Reward in the Qur’an appears in various nominal and verbal forms, such as thawāb (reward), mathūbah (recompense), and athāba (to reward). It also carries diverse associations and connotations, as reward is linked to recompense in this world and the Hereafter, deeds, the trials of wars and battles, faith, and obedience.
Conclusion: The study concluded that reward in the Qur’an is a noble Qur’anic term with multiple forms that share meanings related to recompense and reward. It also identified various means through which a person may attain reward from Allah, the Almighty. Furthermore, reward has diverse associations and relationships in both worldly life and the Hereafter, in addition to having tangible effects on both the individual and society.
