Abstract

Objectives: The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a program based on digital stories in developing oral expression skills among the fourth-grade female students.

Methods: The study employed an experimental approach, selecting a random sample of 63 female fourth graders from Osama Al-Najjar Elementary School. The participants were divided into two groups: an experimental group (n=33) taught using a program based on digital stories, and a control group (n=30) taught using the traditional method. The study was conducted during the first semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. To assess oral expression skills, an observation card was used after verifying its validity and reliability.

Results: The findings revealed a positive impact of using digital stories on the development of oral expression skills among fourth-grade female students. Statistically significant differences (α = 0.01) were observed between the mean scores of the two groups on the post-application of the oral expression skills observation card, favoring the experimental group.

Conclusions: It is essential to provide an appropriate educational environment for integrating digital stories into educational institutions. Conducting workshops to train teachers on the use of digital stories in teaching, and incorporating oral expression skills into the curricula of the basic stage are necessary steps to enhance students' development in this area.
