Objectives: This research aims to explore the significance of the phrase "Criteria for Observing the Order of Prayer”, to induce the criteria of observation of order and to clarify and explain the aspects in which they differ.
Methods: The research relied upon three approaches: inductive, analytical, and deductive. The scientific material was traced in the chapter on prayer according to the Hanafi, with further explanation of the divisions regarding order observation in prayer with evidence, while limiting the criteria for observing the order between making up a missed prayer and performing the present one with their proper applications. The phrase "observe the order" was dissected and explained.
Results: “Criteria for observing the order in prayer" signifies adopting the act of prayer in accordance with its order as it was legislated. According to the Hanafi school, it is divided into five divisions: at the time of performance, between the missed and current prayers, between the missed prayers, between actions within the prayer i.e., bowing and prostration, and which is unrelated to the actions and time within a prayer. The result showed that the order between the missed and the current prayer is obligatory and the order between the missed prayers is a valid condition, which if not followed, leads to the invalidity of the prayer. According to Hanafites, the order falls in certain cases in which it is not adopted.
Conclusions: Further work on extrapolating issues of observing the order in times other than prayer times and its parts is required.
