رغبة من الباحث في خدمة عالم من علماء الحنابلة، هو الإمام البهوتي الحنبلي، وبيان المميزات العلمية الخاصة بشخصيته التي ظهرت واضحة جلية على اختصاراته لما فيه إطالة وشروحاته فيما يحتاج إلى توضيح لكتب الحجاوي وابن النجار في الفقه الحنبلي من خلال التصحيح، والاستدركات فيما وضّحه من آراء سديدة، بل إنه كان يعترض على بعض الألفاظ بالشطب والتوجيه. والبهوتي تمتع بغزارة علمية من خلال الاستطراد والتفريعات في بيان العديد من الفوائد والمسائل المهمة وإزالة الغموض عنها تفسيرًا، وأصوليًا، ونحويًا وشعريًا، مع حرصه على الأمانة العلمية في نسبة كل قول إلى صاحبه، وعزو كل معلومة إلى مصدرها بالإضافة إلى دقته عند النقل من المراجع، كل هذا لم يمنع من تواضعه العلمي الواضح من خلال مقدمات كتبه التي ألّفها. وقد نهج الباحث المنهج الاستقرائي حيث جمع ما تمتع به البهوتي من مميزات علمية خاصة، مع الاعتماد على المنهج التحليلي في ذلك. وقد توصل الباحث إلى أن البهوتي رغم قصر عمره إلا أنه أثّر في الفقه الحنبلي، لما قام به من دور مهم في تدوين المذهب الحنبلي.
