هدفت الدراسة إلى استقصاء مدى تأثر رسوم الأطفال بالبيئة التي يعيشون فيها، وتعبيراتهم الداخلية للأشياء والظواهر والأحداث المحيطة باعتبارها أحداثًا مستقلة عن الاستخدام الفعلي للحواس، ومن أجل ذلك قام الباحثان بعمل هذه الدراسة في روضة المدرسة النموذجية في جامعة اليرموك في إربد خلال العام الدراسي 2017-2018. تمثلت عينة الدراسة اثنيفي اثني عشر طفلا من عمر 4-5 سنوات في مرحلة الروضة (البستان)، ومن خلال هذه الدراسة تم تحليل تسع رسومات لمجموعة الأطفال. وبعد تحليل الرسومات تبين للباحث أن رسومات الأطفال ما بين عمر 4-5 سنوات كانت متأثرة بشكل كبير بالبيئة التي يعيشون فيها، وظهر هذا من خلال التعبيرات المختلفة التي أظهرها الأطفال في رسومهم، إذ كانت رسوماتهم متنوعة، وتميزت بخاصية المكان الذي يعيش فيه الأطفال، ومثال ذلك: رسم أحد الأطفال أشكال المنطقة الريفية، واهتم طفل آخر برسم السيارات فقط. كما تكررت بعض الأشكال أكثر من غيرها، وهذا يعني أن الأطفال لديهم أشياء يعرفونها بشكل جيد ويستطيعون تمثيلها صوريا بطريقة سهلة (بيت، نافذة، شمس، زهرة، كتاب، كرة). وفضل الأطفال رسم أشكال مألوفة كانوا قد رسموها في السابق، وأخيرا أظهرت الدراسة أن بعض الأشكال في رسوم الأطفال لا يمكن معرفتها من غير أن يشرحها الطفل.
