Abstract

Objectives: The research aims to identify the concept of istihsaan ‘approval’ and its types according to Al-Buni, as well as extracting the sayings in which Al-Buni referred to approval, and his selections in several issues from separate sections, such as the chapter on purity, prayer, and zakat, with an explanation of the aspect of the saying about approval by Al-Buni in his book Tafsir Al-Muwatta.

Methods: The Study followd A deductive/analytical approach was applied.

Results: A number of results have been reached. Al-Buni used different aspects of preference such as precaution, easiness, facilitation, combining evidence, outweighing and considering differences. Imam Al-Buni, hence, used preference in his interpretation of many aspects of Fiqh.

Conclusions: The study concludes to among the recommendations that the researcher recommends is preparing a study of Al-Buni’s extracts from Tafseer Al-Muatta to interpret other Fiqhi aspects such as almasalih almursalah ‘public interest’ and sadd aldhara’e’ blocking pretexts.
