Abstract

Objectives: This study examines the accuracy of Al-Qari’s claim in Mirqat Al-Mafatih Sharh Mishkat Al-Masabih that Ibn Hajar Al-Haytami made unusual linguistic interpretations. It aims to clarify their scholarly disagreement and determine whether Al-Qari’s critique is valid.

Methods: The study follows an analytical approach based on established linguistic principles to assess the correctness of Ibn Hajar’s interpretations.

Results: The study identifies instances where Al-Qari deemed Ibn Hajar’s interpretations unusual. It finds that while Al-Qari is sometimes justified in his critique, in other cases, Ibn Hajar’s interpretations are linguistically valid. Additionally, Al-Qari often relies on earlier scholars, and his use of Ighrab (unusual interpretation) does not necessarily indicate error but rather complexity or rarity.

Conclusions: The study confirms that many of Ibn Hajar’s interpretations have valid linguistic foundations. It is divided into two sections: one analyzing nouns and the other examining verbs and particles, with each section structured around specific linguistic issues.
