Abstract

This study aims to align the outputs of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science at Sultan Qaboos University with the labor market's needs for specialists training and sports health, by identifying the extent of the labor market's need to introduce specialized programs in training and sports health at Department of Physical Education and Sports Science. Moreover, the study aims to identify the extent of labor market's need for specialists in the fields of training and sports health, and find out trends that support not offering specialty of training and sports health. A questionnaire and content analysis have been used for collecting data. The size of the sample included 211 respondents from specialists in sport institutions who are benefiting from the outcomes of training and sports health. The study showed that there is an urgent need (with a percentage of 93.8%) to introduce the training and sports health specialization in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, with a small percentage supporting not introducing the specialization of training and health sports, justifying this by the absence of job vacancies, and that the job market is not prepared to receive specialists in training and sports health. The study recommends that a department should be informed about the experiences of similar colleges and departments at other higher education institutions which have introduced such programs..
