The Dramatic Monologue in the Poetry of Saad Eddin Shaheen, the poem “Tahajudat Qudsiyah” as a model A communicative linguistic approach

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate psycho-contextual images within their dramatic monologue framework for “Tahajjudat Maqdisiyah” in an endeavor to identify the monologue controlling the unity of the spontaneous flow resulting from time space in the poetic stanzas. It also aimed to investigate the dramatized scenes in the reader’s mind, whether a critic or recipient, and highlight the connotations accompanying those scenes in accordance with their contexts in the poem.
Methods: The study used a descriptive and analytical approach to analyze the “Tahajudat Qudsiyah” poem by “Saad al-Din Shaheen” relying on the premises of the theory of communicative linguistics. A discussion and annotation of the results will follow.
Results: The study showed that the monologue results from the poet's desire to emerge, highlight himself and reveal his humane concerns and national affairs. These affairs constitute Shaheen’s motive and internal dramatic mobility as if the monologues and the purpose were crystallized in mental and emotional images, and then dyed with a poetic color that the poem showed. This prompted the researchers to investigate the poem’s mysteries, and search for what the lines conceal between or behind them.
Conclusions: The study revealed that the poet was moving from the struggle of the self to the clash of civilizations, and from the dramatic soliloquy to the dramatic monologue; where he addresses himself, addresses his beloved, and addresses the things around him. He also addresses what was absent and what is present; So, he made the goal to visit the adored and beloved (Jerusalem).
