Objectives: This study aimed to verify the effectiveness of a cognitive-behavioural therapy program in reducing post-traumatic stress disorder among adolescent girls who have lost loved ones to COVID-19.
Methods: The study is based on a quasi-experimental approach based on a single group, the study was conducted on an experimental sample consisting of (9 girls), the study utilized a list of post-traumatic stress disorder (DSM-5) by Weathers & etal, 2013) and the cognitive-behavioural therapy program which was developed specifically for purposes of this study.
Results: The results indicated a lack of statistically significant differences between members of the experimental group in the pre- and post-traumatic measurements on the post-traumatic stress disorder scale (dimensions, and total score), which indicates the ineffectiveness of the cognitive-behavioural therapy program in reducing post-traumatic stress disorder among individuals who lost loved ones to COVID -19 in the study sample.
Conclusions: The lack of awareness among certain individuals in the Arab community regarding the psychological aspect in managing the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, along with the limited effectiveness of remote therapy programs, has resulted in unfavorable consequences.
