Objectives: This study aims to investigate the semantic significance of the root (THaLaLa) in its lexical uses and its significance in Quranic discourse. It seeks to explore all the implications arising from the root in the Quranic context and its various levels of usage according to the context and the impact of context in guiding the meaning conveyed.
Method: The study adopted the descriptive-inductive method in tracing the root material (THaLaL), focusing on contemplating the meaning around which the words of this root revolve with all its various derivations, whether nominal or verbal, in Arabic language books and dictionaries. It also examines its relationship in Quranic discourse.
Results: This research has proven the semantic relationship between the meaning of the root (THaLaL) and its various inflectional derivative forms, which carry many meanings that have enriched the Arabic lexicon with valuable contemporary elements on the level of evolved meanings, and between its levels of usage in the noble Quranic discourse.
Conclusion: Lexical significance is a focal point around which several meanings revolve, connecting these meanings with the linguistic material of the root (THaLaL) and its various derivational constructions, its inflectional functions, and the significant semantic implications these functions entail. The study aimed to explore the evolution of this root in Quranic discourse and its correlation with what the Arabic lexicon presents.
