Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to explore the components of teacher quality during the Corona pandemic and examine the relationship between these components and performance. The study sought to identify the strengths and weaknesses of teacher quality by examining the experiences of teachers in leading countries in education worldwide, as well as successful local teacher experiences in Jordan during the pandemic. It is widely recognized that the quality of education relies on the quality of teachers, and thus there has been a growing interest in enhancing their quality.

Methods: The researchers conducted a qualitative study using a multiple case study approach. They examined the experiences of ten teachers who excelled in delivering distance education during the 2021-2022 school year in Jordan. The study aimed to understand the dimensions of teacher quality and its potential, and compared these findings with the dimensions of teacher performance in leading global reference countries in the field of education.

Results: The results revealed that teachers identified three main components of teacher quality in their cases: subjective components, objective components, and components related to the educational context.

Conclusions: Based on the findings, it is recommended to adopt the quality standards for teacher performance identified in this study during the Corona pandemic. These standards should be used as a framework for designing professional development programs for teachers during crises. Additionally, clear mechanisms for teacher training and support should be established in case of emergencies.
