The Level of Metacognitive Skills among Secondary School Students during the Exceptional School Period in Algeria in Light of the Corona Pandemic

The current study aims to examine the metacognitive skills of a sample of third-year school students in the region of Meftah in Blida during the 2020/2021 academic season. Coinciding with the activation of the exceptional academic time approved by the Ministry of National Education in parallel with the imposition of the health protocol in educational institutions during the Corona pandemic in Algeria where the descriptive approach was adopted by a simple random sample of 150 male and female students with the employment of metacognitive skills scale by Ali Fares. After statistical treatment of the data collected by the SPSS-V22 program, we interpreted the results in light of the findings of previous studies. The study concluded that there is a low level of metacognitive skills among the respondents, with statistically significant differences in the level of metacognition skills according to the variable of the school time pattern (morning and evening) in favor of the schooled pupils in the morning, and the study finally culminated with practical proposals.
