Objectives: The research seeks to clairvoyance of the semantic space of the shadow in different models of cultural discourse, as well as expands in extrapolating the shadow spaces in the Holy Qur'an and its derivative manifestations, by transcending the apparent significance to the suggestive connotations and then turning the signifier into various connotations.
Methods: The research followed the descriptive analytical method. The shadow acquires new meanings through its presentation in a modern poetic model and a novelistic model in an attempt to reveal the manifestations of the shadow in these models using the concepts of semiotics and its methods in analyzing texts.
Results: The research concluded that shadow connotation is animated and evades the characteristic of stability in selected cultural discourse models. In Qur'an, the appearance of shadow is multiplied; its derivations and tools differ. While in poetry, the presence of shadow has changed from the familiar to the revealing psychological equivalent, as it examines the self and its fluctuations and identification with the beloved.
Conclusions: The shadow in the novel tends to a system of semi-philosophical purposes, perhaps the most prominent of which is the overlap of truth with illusion and the struggle of doubts and conjecture in front of the thorny relationship between women and men in particular; masculinity and femininity in general.
