Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the symmetry and thematic proportion between the verses with verbal similarities related to the story of Abraham (peace be upon him). It does so by tracing the story and interpreting it according to the Quranic order, collecting similar verses related to the same subject in one context, and then clarifying the meaning and implications of this proportion.

Methods: This study follows the inductive and analytical method by tracing the similar verses related to the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) according to their Quranic order and analyzing them to clarify the resulting proportion, meanings, and implications.

Results: The study concluded that examining verbal similarities according to their Quranic order yields different results and implications than analyzing them from a rhetorical or contextual perspective. It also dispels the misconception of repetition, synonymy, or contradiction between similar verses. Instead, it reveals a proportionate and harmonious relationship, detailing and summarizing the scenes and events. The symmetry between similar verses in Quranic stories helps understand the changes between each verse and its counterpart, thus integrating the events of the story, completing the picture, and clarifying the purpose of the changes.

Conclusions: The relationship between the thematic proportion, Quranic order, and verbal similarities is one of harmony, order, and interconnection. Therefore, the Quranic order is a crucial factor in uncovering the proportions, symmetries, and links between similar verses and an important factor in resolving confusion caused by the repetition of some words.
