Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to clarify the concept of contemporaneity in Quranic studies in general, and specifically to examine the interpretative efforts of Professor Farid Al-Ansari, which highlight contemporary social issues. It also seeks to present his methodology in addressing these issues and focus on the key social issues he discussed and analyzed in his works dedicated to Quranic studies.

Methods: The research adopts a descriptive inductive approach to explore Al-Ansari's Quranic efforts, with particular emphasis on his approach to social issues.

Results: The study concludes that Al-Ansari – may God have mercy on him – was deeply engaged in interpretation, diligently innovating in an era of tradition. He possessed a social reformist sense through his connection of Quranic interpretation to the reality of the Muslim community and the familial and social challenges it faces. He addressed several social issues that revealed Quranic guidance, the legislative wisdoms, and the Quranic significances.

Conclusion: The study concludes that the concept of contemporaneity was present in Al-Ansari's work, manifested in both the stylistic aspect and the thematic content he tackled. It was also evident in his methods of addressing and presenting the interpretative issues. The field of contemporaneity in his interpretation was diverse, with the social aspect being prominently featured.
