Social media platforms have witnessed a significant evolution in user interaction and communication styles, leading to rapid advancements in information dissemination and engagement. From mere entertainment platforms, have become an integral part of daily life for Arab youth, exerting a direct and effective influence on interaction and communication styles.
Objectives: This study aims to explore the impacts of social media use on human interaction, analyzing the resulting changes among individuals within society and examining how the behavior and social relationships of young people are affected.
The study's significance lies in the role of social media in influencing youth and highlighting the potential challenges and benefits of human interaction, including its impact on face-to-face communication, interpersonal skills, and social interaction within communities.
Methods: A descriptive-analytical approach was employed, using an online survey to collect data from a sample of Arab youth who are active social media users.
Results: The study found that news and social purposes are the most common reasons for using social media among young people, with the primary motivations being to connect with friends and family and stay informed about current events. The study also revealed that interactions through social media are often superficial but can strengthen personal relationships in certain ways.
Conclusions: The study concluded that social media increases digital interaction but may lead to a decrease in the quality of direct personal interaction. There are also mixed effects on human relationships, as excessive use can reduce face-to-face interaction.
