Objectives: This study aimed to identify the attitudes of the Emirati Muslim public toward using Holy Quran applications and related sciences on smartphones and to assess the extent of their usage.
Methods: A descriptive survey approach was employed, using a validated questionnaire distributed to an available sample of 404 users of Holy Quran applications in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Results: The study found that the benefits of using Holy Quran applications include ease of navigation, quick search for verses, surahs, and sections, the ability to copy and share verses via social media, access to multiple recitations by renowned readers, availability of translated readings in various languages, and resources for interpretation, understanding, and contemplation of the Quran. Users expressed their intent to continue using these applications as they meet their expectations and encourage Quran recitation. They also indicated a willingness to recommend them to others. Additionally, the study revealed a correlation between users’ perceptions of ease of use and their attitudes toward continued use in the future.
Conclusions: The findings highlight the significance of these applications in Quran reading and learning. The study recommends that developers implement a mechanism allowing users to control advertisements associated with their Internet service provider.
