The Strangeness of Artistic Performance in the Islamic Era between Uniqueness and Necessity (An Analytical Study)

Objectives: The research aims to understand the phenomenon of strangeness in performance among some Islamic poets and to identify the reasons for resorting to it. It seeks to determine whether this was merely a choice to highlight individuality and literary talent or if it was due to necessity.
Method: The research studies the phenomenon of strangeness according to an analytical method by breaking down the research problem into its primary components: strangeness of vocabulary, strangeness of meaning, strangeness of sound, and strangeness of structure. This division facilitates the study process and helps identify the reasons that led to its emergence in the Islamic era.
Results: The inclination towards the use of strange vocabulary is a technique adopted by some poets due to their environment and sometimes to achieve distinction. Poets may be compelled to use complex structures to adhere to poetic meter, and they may employ some unusual metrical feet to break the monotony of the rhythm, as seen in the Rjaz form.
Conclusion: The phenomenon of performance strangeness in Islamic poetry exists in various forms, prompting critics to explicitly reference certain instances. It does not always conform to the concept of poetic necessity; rather, it may reflect the poet's desire for uniqueness or stem from a weakness in artistic performance. This strangeness varies from the use of exotic vocabulary or complex linguistic structures to unusual poetic images and rare metrical patterns.
