Abstract

Objectives: The study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a psychosocial support program in enhancing the legal empowerment of refugees in Jordan.

Methodology: The study sample consisted of 38 refugees in Irbid Governorate, randomly assigned to two equal groups: the experimental group, which participated in the psychosocial support program, and the control group, which did not participate in any intervention program. The Legal Empowerment Scale was used to collect data from both study groups in pre-test and post-test assessments, and a follow-up test was conducted with individuals from the experimental group only, in addition to the psychosocial support program.

Results: The study results revealed statistically significant differences between the experimental group (3.57 ± .2250) and the control group (2.23 ± .3240) in the mean scores on the Legal Empowerment Scale in the post-test, in favor of the experimental group. The results also showed statistically significant differences between the mean scores in the post-test (3.57 ± .2250) and follow-up test (3.75 ± .2060) on the Legal Empowerment Scale.

Conclusion: These findings indicate the effectiveness of the psychosocial support program in improving legal empowerment. Furthermore, they suggest the sustainability of the program's impact through the provision of training material.
