Abstract

This research is based on the confirmation that Tawfiq Fayyad’s novel Wadi al-Hawarth: Awwad the First – published after the Oslo Accords – is a certificate of ownership for the right of the Palestinians in Palestine. The novel evokes the past with all its momentum as a witness to this right by employing the techniques of time and presenting a Palestinian narrative that refutes the forged Israeli myth that justifies its usurpation of the Palestinian land. The study aims to shed light on the literary and artistic ingenuity of Fayyad in using narrative techniques, especially those related to time, place, description, and symbol. It employs postcolonial studies, focusing on the narrative techniques of the novel to show the legitimacy of the historical and moral Palestinian right in Palestine.
