Objectives: The study aimed to trace the philosophical conceptual meanings of identity and its crisis, as well as examining the epistemological approaches from a historical perspective. It analyzed the nature of the crisis discourse accompanying the current state of identity in human consciousness and the contemporary human condition, along with the complexities surrounding the self in its relations with itself and others in the context of acceptance and recognition.
Methods: The methodology used a critical analysis approach to explore the nature of the dilemmas posed by identity in the present human context, from various philosophical, historical, ethical, and cultural perspectives, and how they reflect on the formation of individual and collective consciousness.
Results: This study showed that the philosophical inquiry into identity is a critical necessity, considering its relativism and transformations in contemporary times, in order to find a clear approach to its dilemmas in the current global conditions affecting the nature of identity awareness and representation.
Conclusions: The study concludes that the manifestations of identity in contemporary ideas, culture, and practice point to a crisis in defining and representing it in contemporary societies.
