Objectives: This research aims to broaden the understanding "al-Maw'udah" and to refute the misconception that it is only relevant to the pre-Islamic era, despite its existence in ancient human societies and its continuation into the modern era. The research examines "al-Maw'udah" in the Quranic text, focusing on its usage in Surah al-Takwir to derive a more profound and consistent implication aligned with the continuity of meaning throughout the Quranic text. Furthermore, it seeks to emphasize the depth and precision of Quranic discourse, showing that it is not restricted to any particular nation or era.
Methods: The research employs a critical approach, analyzing, comparing, evaluating, and deducing from the concepts and perspectives related to this subject.
Results: The research concludes that the phenomenon of "wa'd" (the exposure of newborn girls to death) is not specific to any particular people or region. It prevailed in various societies since ancient times and continues to do so today, though the motives and reasons may differ or sometimes coincide. Current statistics indicate that the deliberate disposal of fetuses either in the womb or shortly after birth due to social or economic reasons is significantly more prevalent now than in ancient times. This underscores the enduring relevance of the Quranic discourse condemning the crime of "wa'd" across different eras and societies.
Conclusion: The research concludes that the phenomenon of "wa'd," which is depicted in the verses of Surah al-Takwir, has been persistent across different eras and societies, with varying levels of awareness, suggesting its timeless relevance in both historical and contemporary contexts.
