Objectives: This study aims to examine the impact of Surah Al-Isra in addressing human nature and social behavior, particularly by highlighting negative human traits.
Methods: The study identifies the human characteristics mentioned in Surah Al-Isra haste, ingratitude, despair, and miserliness and then derives the thematic unity of the Surah. It conducts a linguistic, contextual, and purposive analysis of these traits, uncovering their negative effects and the methods proposed for their refinement. The research employs inductive, analytical, and inferential methodologies.
Results: The study concludes that the central theme of Surah Al-Isra is the adherence to the Quran as a source of guidance and steadfastness in the face of adversaries. Key principles that help individuals remain resolute in moments of confrontation include exercising patience rather than acting hastily, recognizing and appreciating divine blessings rather than turning away from the Quran, maintaining hope in God's mercy instead of succumbing to despair, and avoiding miserliness—a trait that led to the downfall and humiliation of the Israelites. Consequently, the Surah warns against haste, despair, ingratitude, and miserliness as detrimental traits.
Conclusions: Surah Al-Isra frequently addresses human traits in the context of strengthening the believer against adversaries, emphasizing that human beings are the foundation of victory for the Muslim community. Therefore, individuals must undergo psychological and spiritual preparation.
