This study aims to identify the level of anomie personality, psychological stress, and self-assertion among secondary school students in Irbid Governorate, and the relationship between them.
The current study followed the correlational descriptive approach, where a stratified random sample of (336) students was selected from the second grade of secondary students in Al-Qasbah District schools in Irbid. Three scales were applied to collect data on them: the anomie personality scale consisting of 26 items, the psychological stress scale consisting of 24 items, and the self-assertion scale consisting of 53 items, the psychometric properties of which were verified.
The results showed that both the level of the presence of anomie personality, level of psychological stress, and self-assertion in secondary school students’ level were moderate. The findings showed also a positive, statistically significant correlation between psychological stress and self-assertion on one side and anomie personality on the other.
The study concludes the need to create positive climates and sound psychological conditions to help adolescent students achieve acceptable levels of affirmation that are appropriate for their ages, to move from anomie to achieving the highest levels of normal personality, and the need for school and family attention to social, mental, and physical changes that occur to adolescents and their relationship by forming their value-normal personalities to move away from their anomie personalities.
