The Role of Al-Qassim University in Emerging Crisis Management: Coronavirus Pandemic as a Model

Abstract

The study aims to identify the role of Al-Qassim University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in managing emergency crises, specifically the Corona Virus (COVID-19) crisis. The study sample consisted of (169) deans and vice-deans of colleges, heads of departments and faculty members at Al-Qassim University. The study used a descriptive survey method. A questionnaire consisting of (44) items was applied distributed into three areas: teaching and learning process, scientific research, and community service. The results of the study showed that teaching and learning process management ranked first, then community service came in the second place, and scientific research ranked last. The estimates of the study sample on the fields of the questionnaire as a whole came to a medium degree. The results of the study showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the average estimates of the sample members on the areas of the role of Al-Qassim University in managing the Corona Virus (COVID-19) crisis as a whole due to the study variables, which are college, job title, academic rank, and experience. The study recommends increasing attention to providing counseling and psychological support services to students during emergency crises.
