Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to identify the relationship between marital bullying and sleep disorders among a sample of wives in Riyadh. It also seeks to examine the differences in marital bullying and sleep disorders based on the work variable (working vs. non-working) and to identify the positive impact of marital bullying on sleep disorders among the wives in the study sample.

Methods The study followed a descriptive comparative correlational approach, with a sample of 320 wives in Riyadh. The sample was divided into 112 working wives and 208 non-working wives. The study used scales developed by the researcher to measure marital bullying and sleep disorders.

Results: The study found a strong positive correlation between marital bullying and sleep disorders among wives. There were significant differences in the average scores on the marital bullying scale, with working wives showing higher scores. Similarly, differences in sleep disorder scores favored working wives.

Conclusions: The study recommends enhancing the role of media in raising public awareness about the dangers of bullying and its psychological effects. It also emphasizes the need for religious institutions to encourage compassion, affection, and respect in marital relationships. Furthermore, the study suggests organizing training courses for individuals about to marry, focusing on effective partner interaction.
