Objectives: This study explores the challenges faced by non-profit civil society organizations focused on music in Amman, from the perspective of their officials. It highlights key factors affecting their ability to achieve cultural and educational goals, particularly in communities facing social, economic, and cultural challenges, including those hosting large numbers of refugee children. The study also analyzes these challenges and proposes practical recommendations to support and enhance the resilience of these organizations.
Methods: Using a mixed-methods approach, the study combines qualitative and quantitative data. It includes interviews with officials from organizations such as the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, Tajalla, Action for Hope, Madrasati Initiative, Caritas Jordan, Ruwwad, and the Jordanian Women’s Union. Additionally, quantitative data from institutional reports and music program statistics were analyzed using a reconciliation approach to ensure a comprehensive and precise evaluation.
Results: The study identifies social, cultural, and economic challenges, including community acceptance, difficulties in organizing music sessions, and funding shortages affecting program sustainability. It also highlights the positive impact of music on students’ skills and community engagement.
Conclusions: The study offers recommendations to enhance the sustainability of music programs, emphasizing the importance of local and international partnerships to ensure their continuity amid changing circumstances.
