“Hope” in Nada Jarrar’s an Unsafe Haven: Sisyphean and Cruel

الملخص

الأهداف: تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى فحص تصوير الأمل من خلال نظرية التأثير، وإلى دراسة الطريقة التي يحفز بها الأمل شخصيات الرواية على التصرف. كما تهدف الدراسة إلى فحص كيف أن الأمل كعاطفة لا يجلب نظرة متفائلة في عالم الرواية، بل يخلق خيبة أمل وتشاؤم.

المنهجية: تعتمد هذه الدراسة نظرية التأثير خاصة "الأشياء السعيدة" لسارة أحمد ومفهوم "التفاؤل القاسي" لدى لورين بيرلانت في إظهار أن الأمل في رواية جرار هو مصدر السعادة ومصدر بؤس لشخصيات الرواية في الوقت ذاته.

النتائج: تظهر النتائج أنّ دراسة مفهوم الأمل -الذي تبحث عنه الشخصيات في مفاهيم وأفكار مثل الزواج والحب والثورات- تؤدي إلى ما نود أن نطلق عليه أمل "عبثي" يؤدي إلى خيبة الأمل والإحباط؛ إذ إنّ هذا الأمل لا يقتصر على كونه "عبثيًا" فهو أيضاً "قاسٍ" لأنه غير مجدٍ وغير قابل للتحقيق.

التوصيات: خلصت الدراسة الى أن الأمل مصدر تفاؤل بمستقبل أفضل ولكنه خطير في قسوته في نفس الوقت لأنه لا يؤدي إلا إلى العذاب
