Objectives: This study aims to uncover Iran's ambitions in the Arabian Gulf region and shed light on the means by which Iran seeks to achieve these ambitions. The study hypothesizes that the security strategy employed by the Arabian Gulf states is ineffective in curbing Iran's efforts to dominate, control, and extend its influence over the region.
Methods: The study employs a historical approach to highlight past events related to Iran's expansionist project, tracing its roots and examining its development up to the present time. Additionally, a descriptive analytical approach is employed to analyze the strategies Iran employs in pursuit of its goals.
Results: The study concludes that Iran aspires to assume a leadership role in the region, exercise control over the security of the Arabian Gulf, and impose hegemony over the area through the complete dominance of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran utilizes various tools, including military, intelligence, ideological, economic, cultural, and media means, to achieve its objectives. Furthermore, Iran is actively working on the development of its nuclear program, with recent success in enriching uranium up to 60%.
Conclusions: Given the identified ambitions of Iran in the region and the means it employs to achieve them, this study emphasizes the need for extreme caution and a proactive response from the Arab countries, particularly those in the Arabian Gulf.
