Objective: The study aims to analyze a sample of poems in the Palestinian 5th and 6th graders' Arabic Language book to identify the objective and aesthetic characteristics that are appropriate to the nature of children's literature, as a knowledge product containing a set of values and principles that contribute to the development of the capacities of the target group.
Methods: The study adopted the analytical-descriptive approach to analyze the poems of Arabic language books starting from within the texts, examining them, and extracting their characteristics in order to answer the study questions.
Results: The study concluded that 5th and 6th graders' Arabic language books included twenty-two poems, classified into five themes, namely patriotism, humanities, nostalgia, nature description, and love of learning. In addition, the poems were characterized by ease and clarity, style diversity, brevity, use of narration, repetition, and variety of rhymes.
Conclusion: Attention should be paid to the content of children's literature presented in Arabic language books for students of different educational stages. In addition, focus should be placed on its objective and aesthetic characteristics that are appropriate for different age groups, and attention should be paid to further critical studies that address it.
