Objectives: The study aimed to reveal the relationship between social capital and job satisfaction among teachers in public schools and the differences between teachers’ attitudes toward levels of social capital and job satisfaction that result due to gender and age variables.
Methods: The study applied the social survey method. A convenient sample of (450) public school teachers from both genders in the Jordanian capital, Amman, was selected.
Results: The results found that the level of social capital among Jordanian public-school teachers was high, and their level of job satisfaction was moderate. The results also found that there is a positive, direct relationship between social capital and job satisfaction among teachers at the significance level (α = 0.01), and that there are differences between teachers’ attitudes towards levels of social capital and job satisfaction attributed to the gender variable in favor of males, and not due to the age variable.
Conclusions: The teacher’s network of social relationships contributes to enhancing his social capital and enables him to invest social capital to achieve his ambitions on the personal and professional levels, which contributes to enhancing performance and increasing his levels of job satisfaction. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the capabilities of teachers in public schools in two aspects: the first is to increase their levels of social capital, and the second is to enhance their ability to employ social capital in different areas of work and areas of life.
