Objectives: This research examines the impact of the Andalusian cultural environment on the development of linguistic and critical terminology from the 4th to the 6th century AH. The research issue stems from the observation that a thorough reading of the Andalusian cultural trajectory confirms that Andalusia was not detached from the Eastern Islamic world during the early stages of its cultural foundation, starting from the era of the governors, as it was a transitional period. However, the situation changed when the Andalusian identity began to seek its uniqueness.
Methods: The research employed both inductive and analytical methods to trace and extract linguistic and critical terms from selected works within the research sample. The aim was to understand the cultural influences of the Andalusian environment and the relationship between the cultural environment and the linguistic and critical terms.
Results: The research concluded that the circulation of Andalusian terms followed pathways that defined the specificity of the Andalusian terminology, such as singing and entertainment, the beauty of the Andalusian environment, and debates and discussions. Eastern terms dominated the writings of Andalusians, as evidenced in the book Al-Mukhassas by Ibn Sīdah. However, there was a distinct Andalusian specificity in some terms related to Andalusian works, demonstrated by the expanded meanings of certain terms such as Diwan and Rasā'il.
Conclusions: The research addressed the influence of the Andalusian cultural environment on the development of linguistic and critical terms from the 4th to the 6th century AH. It showed that there was an Andalusian specificity in some terms of works related to Andalusia. Some Andalusian terms were bound by constraints such as description, addition, and explanatory clauses, which underscores the Andalusian identity's commitment to its terminological specificity despite their rarity.
