Causes of Unemployment in Jordan and Solutions from the Point of View of Unemployed Youth

Objectives: This study aimed to identify the causes of unemployment in Jordan from the perspective of unemployed youth, and find out the measures that help combat unemployment.
Methods: This study adopted the comprehensive social survey method for all youth centers in all governorates and districts in Jordan of (201) centers. As the study sample consisted of (2271) young men and women who were unemployed or had never worked, constituting (43%) of the total sample of (5271) young men and women, and they were selected using a simple random sampling method. To achieve the objectives of the study; a questionnaire consisting of (38) items was developed to carry out the field study.
Results: The leading causes of the unemployment problem in Jordan are the large number of graduates from institutes and universities, insufficient salaries or wages, exploiting unemployment to control work and impose conditions on workers, nepotism, then requiring an experience certificate, high transportation costs, and the lack of health insurance.
Conclusion: Unemployment rates among youth continuously rising, facing them requires qualifying and training the youth about job seeking skills, in addition to the family and community encourage young people to accept work opportunities, even if it is contrary to their wishes.
