Objectives: The study aimed to explore the impacts of digital transformation on the readership base and the journalism industry of Jordanian daily printed newspapers, as well as the issues arising from the transformation process from the perspective of those working in these newspapers.
Methods: This descriptive study employed a survey methodology, applying it to an equal quota sample of 250 journalists working at the newspapers Al-Rai, Ad-Dustour, Al Ghad, Al-Ummah, and Sada Al-Shaab.
Results: The majority of journalists (54.8%) use technological applications and devices in their journalistic work at a moderate level. The "newspaper's website" was the most commonly used application among journalists. The main impact of digital transformation on the readership base and newspaper distribution was "facilitating audience access to newspaper content." The primary impact on the journalism industry was "developing and producing newspapers in digital formats." The most significant issue arising from the digital transformation in Jordanian daily printed newspapers was "the inability to keep up with the developments in digital media technology."
Conclusions: The greater the extent to which journalists in Jordanian daily printed newspapers use digital media technology, the more significant the impacts of digital transformation on these newspapers, in terms of their readership base, distribution, and the journalism industry, from their perspective.
