Abstract

Objectives: This study is divided into two parts: theoretical and applied, focusing on the poetry of Rabia bin Maqroom Al-Dabbi. The study aimed to explore the poetic shifts in his poetry, as there has not been a dedicated study for their analysis. The research sought to trace the aspects of shifts and their classifications, both structurally and semantically, in the poetry of Ibn Maqroom. It aimed to highlight, analyze, and clarify these shifts. The modern conceptualization of poetic shifts involves dissecting linguistic and grammatical deviations and transcending language norms to reveal the psychological and aesthetic impulses hidden behind the poet's creative violation.

Method: The study relied on the stylistic approach to justify this phenomenon and analyze its dimensions, considering it as a creative case on one hand and its impact on the recipient as a target on the other.

Results: Numerous poetic shifts were identified in various forms, manifested in most of Rabia bin Maqroom Al-Dabbi's poetic themes, such as pride, description, love, wisdom, and more. The shifts appeared as a stylistic procedure in Rabia bin Maqroom's poetry across diverse themes. These poetic shifts in Rabia bin Maqroom's poetry were linked to clear contemplative psychological motives expressing the poet's lived experiences in his era. The study identified a range of poetic shifts with their multiple facets: symbolic, structural, and proceeded to articulate and analyze them. It directly linked these shifts to the poetic purposes under study, also noting various linguistic and grammatical deviations concerning the departure from conventional language.

Conclusion: After studyin g the poetic displacement in the poetry of Rabia bin Maqroom Al-Dabbi, the research concluded that there are numerous poetic shifts in his poetry, represented by semantic and structural shifts. The poet managed to employ his language in the service of the poetic text, using a powerful and refined eloquent language. Consequently, he was able to disrupt the prevailing linguistic structure into an unconventional one. The study successfully highlighted, analyzed, and demonstrated these shifts, showcasing the poet's linguistic prowess and how he utilized it artistically. The study also emphasized the necessity of examining Rabia bin Maqroom Al-Dabbi from various perspectives, as existing studies on this poet are still scarce.
